    #18 Melb. Melbourne band whose guitarist Doug Trevor went on to The Cherokees then became musical director for Monkee Davy Jones. He later became an in demand producer.
  2. The Thunderbirds

    Taken from the various artists Quite A Party live LP and recorded on location at the Preston Town Hall, Melbourne. This was The Thunderbirds’ only appearance on album despite their great success on the singles charts.

    #41 Melb. No relation to the Adelaide band of the same name; this is a Melbourne group with their second and final single. Guitarist/vocalist Brendan Henley later formed Bahloo [Obscured 23].

    #10 Perth WA band with their only single, produced by Pat Aulton. Originally named The Zebecs, they also backed artists such as Thorpe and Farnham for WA live gigs. Bassist Roy Daniel later joined Fatty Lumpkin, Chain & The Dave Hole Band
  11. Ian Saxon & The Sound

    #25 Adel. Originally a singer from Auckland, Saxon moved to Australia and formed The Sound (which also featured Colleen Hewett), joined SCRA, became a compere and promoter - and then an infamous drug lord who for a time was “Australia’s Most Wanted” man. Eventually jailed for 13 years for drug and money laundering crimes, he was finally released in 2008.

    #35 Melb. Victorian band whose keyboardist Steve Yates also played with King Harvest, Captain Australia etc. This was their only single; its B-side featured an almost completely different line-up!

    Recorded live in the studio for GTK (ABC TV) at the time the song was banned from commercial radio.

    Sydney based glam/pop band with their only single. The song had previously been recorded by Keith Moon but this version sank without a trace. Vocalist David Gibbons later fronted the more successful Squeeze (not the UK band).

    B-side of rare What Are You Trying To Do To Me single. East, AKA Clem Mizrahi, was involved with the Nutwood Rug Band and Sydney band Man O’War around 1977/8. He produced this single, sang and played bass. Guitarist is probably Chris Turner (Buffalo/Rose Tattoo etc).

    A rare performance by The Bushies with their producer of the time; the song was originally recorded by Lucas with Sandy Denny in Fotheringay though he never sang it himself. Live at the ANU Arts Centre, Canberra April 23 1983. Also featuring the late Louis McManus.
