    Hey Girl (Marriott/Lane) 2:09

    Fable FB-038 1970
A-side of the only single from the trio of Mick Rogers (ex-Procession etc), Peter Miles (ex-Bay City Union, Purple Hearts) and Bob Darnes (ex-Purple Hearts). They split when Rogers went to the UK to join Manfred Mann.
  10. Levi Smith’s Clefs
    Lisa (Bisset-Jurd) 3:44
    Sweet Peach SP-011 1970
Along with stalwart Barrie McAskill, this line-up featured most of what would soon become Fraternity. This song was a single lifted from the Clefs' Empty Monkey LP.
  11. The Rebels
Can You Make It On Your Own (McCarthy/Stott/Williams/Logan/Mason) 4:21
    Impact NZ IR-1051 1970

    Sungod (Barry J. Falkner) 3:26
    Du Monde DMX 11754 1971
From the band's rare soundtrack EP to the surf film Over Under Sideways Down, which was "an explosion of colour and nightmarish imagination" according to the cover!
  13. Heart'n'Soul
    Hot Boogie Band (Foster) 3:04
    Infinity INK-4086 1971
Title track of this 12-piece band's only LP; also released as a single. They had already split by the time of the album's release in early '71.

AKA Brenda Glover, ex-Aesop's Fables. This single was produced by Rod Coe and arranged by Ayers Rock's Col Loughnan.
  16. Headband
Stay With Me (Mauri Berg) 3:31
    Polydor 2079 017 1973
Taken from the Adelaide band's rare LP A Song For Tooley; also the B-side of the Country Lady single. Band members included Chris Bailey (a later Angel) and Peter Head.
  17. Bilgola Bop Band
    Neighbours (S.Brien/C.Davis) 3:32
    Infinity L36138 1976
Taken from the soundtrack LP of another surf film Highway One. This song is probably the band's only recording; Alex Smith (gtr, vcls) and Andrew Thompson (sax) later went to Moving Pictures.

  19. Stars

    The Remedy (Burt) 3:46
    Rough Diamond RDM 8802 1981
From their only recording, the 12" EP Apocalypso. The band featured Wayne Burt (ex-Jo Jo Zep) who sings lead on this track, Greg Champion and John James Hackett (who left to join Mondo Rock). Singer Jo Moore died between the album's recording and release.
  21. Burwood Blues Band
    San Andreas (presumably Rudd) 4:18
    c.1987
One of Mike Rudd & Bill Putt's lesser-known bands, far more synth-pop than blues! This demo may have been released on cassette at the time. Manny Paterakis on drums was another known member of the band.
  22. Easybeats
    Coke Jingle, 1960s 1:09
  23. The Young Australians narrated by Rex Heading
Shadow Valley & Iron Triangles 3:22
    (Festival c .1968)
Redneck nationalistic track from the man who brought you Humphrey B. Bear. #1 in hometown Adelaide, but apparently airplay stopped quickly when public opinion changed on the Vietnam war.

Compiled 2005.
